90 Hz display and Intel’s 12th generation processors

Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro 15 (2022)

Gone is last year’s RedmiBook Pro, clearly focused on the mid-range. This new RedmiBook Pro 15 (2022) incorporates more battery life, a much more advanced display, 12th generation i7 processors, and a dedicated GPU from Nvidia. An ultrabook that as expected has increased in price, but still offers one of the best levels in terms of specifications/price.

Let’s start with its display, featuring a 15.6″ IPS panel with a “3.2K” resolution of 3,200 x 2,000 pixels, with a 16:10 aspect ratio. Redmi explains that it offers up to 400 nits of brightness and a refresh rate of 90 Hz. There is no OLED technology, nor is the brightness as high as more advanced models, but it is a step up from what we had before, where the panel stayed at 1080p.

Inside, the new 12th generation Intel Core “Alder Lake” processors are offered. Specifically the i5 and i7 models of the H series. Accompanying them we find 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM at 5,200 MHz along with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 graphics with 4 GB GDDR6. For storage, there is a single version, with a 512 GB SSD PCIe 4.0 disk.

When it comes to performance, the notebook adds a revamped “Hurricane Cooling” cooling system consisting of two fans and three heat dissipation tubes.

For the battery, Xiaomi expands to 72 Whr, with 130W fast charging via USB-C port that promises to complete 50% in 35 minutes. Previously they stayed at 46 Whr, but the move to a much more powerful GPU has caused the jump.
