The Asian firm surprised us a few minutes ago with the launch of the new Huawei MatePad 10.4 2022 New Edition. This model replaces the eponymous version that the company launched a year ago and whose main difference with respect to the other tablets presented by the company lay in the absence of Google Services. A year later, Huawei strengthens its catalog by updating some components of the device, since the design is shared between the different generations.

Same Design and Screen with A New Version of the Stylus
Huawei has decided to replicate the lines of the reference model and opts for a design identical to that of previous generations. Perhaps the only substantial difference is found in the thickness, which is reduced by 0.10 millimeters. The panel chosen by the company also repeats specifications, with 10.4 inches, IP technology, and a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. In terms of sound, we once again find four stereo speakers located in each of the four corners and signed by Harman Kardon, in addition to four microphones that help reduce noise generation in video calls.

Another of the new features introduced by the brand has to do with compatibility with the new version of Huawei’s stylus, the M-Pencil 2. Now the peripheral is capable of recognizing up to 4,096 levels of pressure, with functions as interesting as the possibility of recording our voice simultaneously when we take notes.
The Changes are on the Inside and Software
Or at least on paper. The brand has opted in this new generation for a Kirin 710A processor compared to the Kirin 820 of last year’s model. It is an eight-core chip with a maximum frequency of 2 GHz, accompanied, in turn, by the Mali G51 as a graphics processor. In terms of power, it remains one step below the aforementioned processor mounted by the Huawei MatePad 10.4 of 2021.

Where we find no apparent differences is in the memory configurations available since it has 4 GB of RAM and two versions with 64 and 128 GB of internal storage. The connectivity associated with this processor leaves us with Bluetooth 5.1, dual-band WiFi, and USB Type-C connections operating on the USB 2.0 standard. As for the battery, Huawei replicates the 7,250 mAh battery of last year’s model, with a charging technology with up to 22.5 W of power. The charger, by the way, is included as standard in the box, something that is starting to become less and less common.
And what about the software? Huawei boasts of bringing Harmony OS version 2.0 to this new generation over EMUI 10.1 of the 2021 model. This new version improves the system interface on tablets, with features designed specifically for the education sector. What is unknown is the version of Android on which it operates, although it is most likely Android 10.
Changes in the Photographic Section

Although it is not a model that stands out for the photographic section, the manufacturer has introduced improvements in the main sensor on the back. Now we find a 13-megapixel camera, with an f/1.8 focal aperture, LED flash, and autofocus capability. The front camera is again composed of an 8-megapixel sensor, with a fixed focal length of f/2.0.
Pricing and Availability of the Huawei Matepad 10.4

The new Huawei MatePad 10.4 2022 New Edition will be on sale from next April 27 in the official Huawei store in two configurations with 64 and 128 GB of storage, as the amount of RAM is shared between the two models. The starting price is 300 and €350 respectively, although the brand itself has already announced a promotion in which we can benefit from a discount during the first days of launch in the two versions of €50. The purchase of the tablet includes a second-generation Huawei M-Pencil and a three-month subscription to the AtresPlayer Premium streaming service.
