POCO has just unveiled its new smartphone to compete in the mid-range. We are talking about the anticipated POCO M4 Pro 5G, a smartphone that arrives at a reduced price, with 5G connectivity and a dual-camera system in which the 50 megapixels of its main sensor stand out.
The POCO M4 Pro 5G (whose datasheet is reminiscent of the Redmi Note 11) will be available from November 11 in different versions of RAM and internal storage whose prices start from €229. Having made the introductions, let’s get to know it a little better.

Colorful design and 90 Hz

The POCO M4 Pro is a somewhat heavy device, weighing almost 200 grams, and with an average thickness of 8.75 millimeters. Its back is available in three colors, namely black, blue, and a striking POCO yellow that is not going to go unnoticed. At the top, it has a huge module, similar to that of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, which houses the two main cameras. Well no, although it may look like it has four or five cameras, but only two.
Spread throughout its chassis are two speakers, a USB Type-C port, and two things you don’t see every day: a headphone jack and infrared sensor. That way, you can use the mobile phone with the usual wired headphones and control home appliances or the TV with the infrared sensor.

As for the display, the POCO M4 Pro 5G incorporates a 6.6-inch IPS/LCD panel with FullHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels) and a 90 Hz refresh rate. It is an adaptive refresh rate at 50, 60, and 90 Hz, so it will change depending on the content. Its touch sampling rate is 240 Hz and it is protected by Gorilla Glass 3.
MediaTek engine and dual camera

Heading inside there is an engine signed by MediaTek. Specifically, the POCO M4 Pro 5G mounts a six-nanometer MediaTek Dimensity 810 processor. This SoC has eight cores, two of them Cortex-A76 at 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 at 2 GHz, plus an integrated 5G modem and an ARM Mali-G52 MC2 GPU.
It is accompanied by four or six gigs of LPDDR4x RAM and 128 or 256 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. These are not the fastest components on the market, but neither are they the slowest. It is worth noting that the internal storage can be expanded with microSD cards.

To power all this set, the smartphone has a 5,000 mAh battery and a 33W fast charging system. According to the company itself, it can be charged to 100% in 59 minutes. The operating system, meanwhile, is Android 11 with MIUI 12.5 for POCO, but it can be expected to be updated to Android 12 at some point.
Finally, and regarding the camera, the module might imply that it has between three and five, but no. It actually has two, a 50-megapixel main one and an eight-megapixel wide-angle with 119º field of view. The front camera, hidden in the screen perforation, stays at 16 megapixels.
