With the GT surname, the brand is now betting on a more aggressive design aimed at the most demanding users as far as mobile games are concerned. The rest of the new features are aimed at offering the best performance, betting on the most powerful configuration from Qualcomm, in addition to a fast-charging system that inherits directly from its sister brand.

An Aggressive Design and a Screen with Proximity Sensor

As we were anticipating in the first paragraph, the phone now has a more aggressive design on the back, where there is also an increase in thickness and weight to 8.5 millimeters and 210 grams due to the improved cooling system, which is directly linked to the processor model chosen. Perhaps the most notable new feature is the integration of a series of buttons with magnetic push buttons to make use of macros and virtual buttons in all those games that support them.

As for the display, the brand improves the present with a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with Full HD+ resolution, 120 Hz frequency, and a touch sampling rate of 480 Hz. In addition to having a brightness level of 800 nits, it has HDR10+, DCI-P3, and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus certification, obtaining an A+ score in the DisplayMate test. Although the most anticipated improvement comes precisely with the return of the physical proximity sensor after the criticism of the ultrasonic system that the Poco F3 premiered, a fact that the brand itself has been able to confirm at the presentation event dedicated to the media. The firm has also placed special emphasis on the PWM refresh rate, which is the one that updates the emission of images through the pixels, with a frequency of no less than 1,920 Hz.

Otherwise, the phone incorporates four symmetrical speakers with stereo sound and Dolby Atmos and Hi-Res certification, in addition to a fingerprint sensor that is repositioned above the Power button. Unfortunately, we do not find any kind of certification against water and dust.

The Most Powerful Qualcomm and a 120 W Charging

As it could not be otherwise, the Poco F4 GT is presided over by the first-generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8, the most powerful – and hot – processor of the American firm. It is accompanied by 8 and 12 GB of RAM and 128 and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The connectivity associated with the processor leaves us with the most advanced connections on the market: 5G, Bluetooth 5.2, WiFi 6E, NFC for mobile apps, Dual GPS… And yes, it has Android 12 under MIUI 13 for Poco.

All these specifications are supported by a 4,700 mAh battery, which operates on a 120 W charging system. In addition to being able to complete a charge in less than 18 minutes, the company has redesigned the charging cable with a side position that helps improve the grip of the device when we connect it to the power. The battery, by the way, is made up of two cells to reduce the long-term impact of fast charging.

The Camera System Gets A Makeover

Poco F4 GT

The Poco F4 GT is also renewed in the photographic section, although only present in the main sensor. We are talking about a Sony IMX686 sensor launched in 2019 that has 64 megapixels and a focal aperture of f/1.9. It is accompanied by an 8-megapixel sensor with a wide-angle lens and focal aperture of f/2.2, as well as a sensor with a macro lens of 2 megapixels and aperture of f/2.4. Recall that the camera of the Poco F3 had a telemacro lens of 5 megapixels, so it is a qualitative step backward on paper. On the other hand, none of the cameras has optical stabilization, a feature that is becoming increasingly common in the mid-range.

On the front, we find a 20-megapixel Sony IMX596 sensor with the same aperture as the previous one. The good news is that it is compatible with the facial unlocking system of the brand.
