The Galaxy A22 and Galaxy A23 are Samsung’s entry-level mid-range phones that bring similar specifications and offer user attention-grabbing specifications, with powerful batteries and superior quality cameras. In the parameters, the more current phone should stand out in this comparison in issues such as screen and processing.

Screen and design
In design, the devices are quite similar, even in size – the A23 is 165.4 mm tall and 76.9 mm wide versus 159.3 mm and 73.6 mm for the A22. The older handset has a rear and bezel constructed of plastic, and there is a notched square base on the back of the house camera module. The front camera is located in a drop-shaped notch.
The A23 is also constructed of plastic but features Gorilla Glass 5 on the screen, which is beneficial for protection against scratches and direct impacts to the display. The device differs from its predecessor mainly by the camera arrangement, which follows Samsung’s current trend seen in more expensive devices, with the cameras stacked in a column.
Both screens have a refresh rate of 90 Hz, up from the 60 Hz of conventional devices, which is reflected in less blur when displaying fast images. However, the A22 should present images with sharper and more vibrant colors, since the device features a Super AMOLED screen instead of the LCD used in the A23. This loss is offset by the screen resolution, which is higher in the latest model. While the A23 has Full HD+ resolution (1,080 x 2,408 pixels), the A22 only has HD+ (720 x 1,600 pixels).
The biometrics sensor of both smartphones is located under the power button, which should be ergonomic and accessible to the thumb.
Camera
Both the Galaxy A22 and Galaxy A23 have good camera modules that should provide good photos, even in low-light environments. One positive point is the optical stabilization (OIS) of the main camera, which was included in the A22 and remained in the next generation. This feature makes the lenses work so that photos and videos do not come out shaky or blurry, and is superior to digital stabilization (EIS) and devices that have no stabilization at all.

There is also an ultra-wide lens, which has 8 MP in the A22 and 5 MP in the A23 for wide-angle shots. However, the distinguishing feature of the devices is the large main sensor included by Samsung. There are 48 megapixels in the A22 and 50 megapixels in the A23. The large size of the sensor should be reflected in more detailed and larger pictures. HDR should even help in the quality of the photos generated.
The videos captured on the phones have Full HD quality and are recorded at up to 30 frames per second (fps), the standard adopted by the industry. The Galaxy A22’s cameras are organized as follows:

There are also similarities under the “hood” of Samsung’s phones. The A22 and A23 have options with 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. Since part of the memory is used by the phones’ system, the A23 has 104 GB free, while the A22 has 103.6 GB in the 128 GB version. They can also make use of microSD cards of up to 1 TB. In RAM, while the A22 comes in versions with 4 or 6 GB, the A23 offers up to 8 GB.
The processor of the two devices is quite different. While the A22 has a Mediatek Helio G80 processor, which can reach 2 GHz, the A23 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, which can reach 2.4 GHz. This difference should be reflected mainly in running heavier applications and games. According to specialized sites such as Nano Review, the Qualcomm processor should also have superior performance in battery saving.
Battery
As usual, Samsung has included in both smartphones, 5,000 mAh batteries. Thus, the phones should reach up to two days away from the socket in moderate use. They also feature the possibility of fast charging, but the A23 is superior in this regard. While the A22 can use up to 15 W sources, the A23 uses 25 W chargers, sold separately.
Android Version
The Galaxy A22 comes equipped with Android 11, but it already has an update to Android 13, the most current version of the system. The A23 has also been updated to Android 13 and One UI 5 system customization, and this is the first update for the device, which arrives equipped with Android 12. Launched in 2021 and 2022, respectively, smartphones should benefit from Samsung’s update policy. The brand usually releases security updates for up to four years.
Among the improvements that the new system for the device’s features are new widgets, improvements in apps like camera and gallery, larger icons, and a new privacy and security area for accessing the permissions given to apps.
Additional Features
There are many similarities between the phones. Both have Bluetooth 5.0, 4G connection, and 5 and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, depending on the quality of the internet offered by the router. NFC is also present, which makes it possible to use both for proximity payments. Both devices use USB type C, but have no OTG feature, for connecting accessories. Finally, both have a fingerprint sensor on the side of the device, under the power button, which allows unlocking.

The Galaxy A22 was launched in early 2021 and today is already found for $239. The phone is available in black and white. Despite the inviting value, its successor, the Galaxy A23, is sold for a very similar price. On Amazon, the device is found for $299 in white, black, and blue.
