Xiaomi has just unveiled its new flagship series, which is made up of the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro, two high-end phones that have a lot to offer and come with the best of the best in terms of features and technical specifications for 2022.
Both phones feature an improved design when compared to the Xiaomi Mi 11 of the last generation, apart from the fact that they completely get rid of the “Mi” in their names, something that other phones of the manufacturer have already done given the change of nomenclature that the firm announced some time ago. A New Shared Personality and 120 Hz Screens with up to 2K Resolution
Xiaomi was not keen to make the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro very different from each other. That’s why the design is identical in both high-end models. This leaves us with a screen with minimal frames, but with less curvature than in the previous generation. In addition, as far as the camera is concerned, the module has a new lens organization and the main sensor that stands out a lot, given the prominence that the company has given it, making it look bigger, and even more significant than it is.
Regarding the screens of each one, the Xiaomi 12 has a 6.28-inch diagonal OLED panel, which makes the mobile a contained and compact size. In addition, the refresh rate is 120 Hz and the resolution is FullHD+ of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels. There is also a maximum brightness of 1,100 nits, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for protection and support for HDR10+, as it could not be otherwise.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro, meanwhile, has a substantially larger LTPO AMOLED display that is 6.73 inches and with a 2K resolution of 3,200 x 1,440 pixels. The refresh rate it boasts is also 120 Hz, while this is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus and supports HDR10+. Mind you, the maximum brightness is a bit lower, staying at 1,000 nits.
The First Xiaomi to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, the Newest and Most Advanced Qualcomm
Both the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, Qualcomm’s most powerful processor chipset to date and one that we will start to see very often in the high-end of Android in 2022.
In question, this octa-core and 4 nanometers part feature an eight-core configuration that is made up as follows: 1 Cortex-X2 core at 3.00 GHz + 3 Cortex-A710 cores at 2.50 GHz + 4 Cortex-A510 cores at 1.80 GHz. Xiaomi has lowered the megapixels in this generation, leaving aside the main sensor used in the Xiaomi Mi 11, which is 108 megapixels, to give way to one of the 50 megapixels in the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. This new sensor has an f/1.9 aperture and, in the case of the standard Xiaomi 12, is paired with a 13-megapixel wide-angle with f/2.4 aperture and a 5-megapixel telephoto/macro.
The Xiaomi 12 Pro, in addition to also having the aforementioned 50-megapixel main shooter, comes with a 50-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a 50-megapixel telephoto with f/1.9 aperture, being superior on a photographic level. In addition, like the standard 12, this model allows 8K video recording at 24 fps (frames per second) and FullHD 1080p slow motion at 960 fps.
For selfies and more, both make use of a 32-megapixel front camera that is capable of recording FullHD 1080p videos at 30/60 fps and HD 720p at 120 fps.
MIUI 13 with Android 12, Batteries, and Other Features
