Thus arrives the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, improving many of the features seen in last year’s model. And another of the key points: the price.
We already know that the new mobile “lifestyle” of Samsung, this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G arrives for just over $999 / €1,000. Which will make it much more accessible both for those who want a folding mobile and for those who bet on its peculiar format. All this, this time, with a technical data sheet at the height of a great launch. It comes with 5G thanks to the Snapdragon 888. Smaller and More Resistant
Samsung has taken note of the criticisms and comments on previous versions of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip to get to hit the nail on the head with this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G. Or at least get very close to what is a folding mobile design but fully capable. Something we will check in detail when we can test the mobile.
They have achieved all this by reducing its size to 72.2 x 86.4 x 15.9/17.1 mm, but not its screen. Everything is more and better used. In addition, the body is now IPX8 certified to be water-resistant. At least for 30 minutes, but enough to save it from some carelessness. And its chassis is Aluminum Armor, which gives it 10% more resistance than the previous version.
And watch out, the finishes are also striking. It is glass, not very clean, but very striking. It comes in four colors: cream, olive green, lavender, and black. Although the most eye-catching is the work that Samsung has done with different partners to create accessories and cases. Now they are more hipsters and not mere protective cases. There is something for everyone, from shapes to colors. There are even cases with straps to comfortably hold the phone and give an even more colorful touch to the whole experience. Much more variety for an audience that can more easily access this market.
More Screens, More Possibilities
The key point of the redesign of this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G comes from the hand of its outer screen. It was one of our criticisms after analyzing the first model, and Samsung has set to work to improve it. Now, this small exterior panel is almost 2 inches in size in a rectangular format. But it’s enough to access a whole collection of quick settings without having to open the phone. Or to read messages with more text from notifications like WhatsApp. Or even to pay with Samsung Pay or install other widgets with useful and quick information. It is the natural and logical evolution of what we saw in the first Samsung Galaxy Z Flip. And it is all a plus point.
However, the inner screen has also evolved. Although it maintains the 6.7-inch diagonal, its technology is Dynamic AMOLED 2X. It maintains a resolution of 2,640 x 1,080 pixels, but can now also display images at a 120Hz refresh rate. So it can look more agile and fluid. A foldable panel that, indeed, has improved the formula of its protection to be 80% more resistant than past editions. So, even if you still notice the folding, opening and closing it or getting knocked around shouldn’t give you the heebie-jeebies.
Arrives with 5G
The initial model of this Galaxy Z Flip family arrived with the plus point of design but with somewhat outdated technical specifications. This, together with a price of more than $1,499, made it more aspirational than commercial. This is another point that Samsung has corrected in the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G.
The chip is headed by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor. An 8-core brain built-in 5 nanometers to be efficient and proves very capable to move everything. Although here it is also interesting to know that in this chip there is a 5G modem to take advantage of these connections. It is also not bad to know that there are 8 GB of RAM working to make everything run smoothly. All of this is in two versions of 128 or 256 GB of storage in UFS 3.1 format.
Its battery, by the way, remains the same as the previous model, despite the reduction in body size. Two batteries are totaling 3,300 mAh. Something that will have to be tested first hand given the new configuration.
No Surprise in Cameras, but Stereo Sound
The photographic section does not vary much. Again we find a dual sensor system, one with Dual Pixel technology for the main camera angle, and another with an ultra-wide-angle lens. The selfie camera is also present inside, of course. Although the versatility of folding it and using the outer screen for framing means that we can always use the main lens when we want more quality.
You can use its body as a tripod and shoot the camera by raising your hand. So selfies can be taken from a distance or with the rear camera. And you’ll always have the 1.9-inch panel on the outside to try to frame yourself as well as possible. Something that is now more comfortable thanks to the larger panel size.
Where this Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 5G has also advanced is in the area of sound. Although its body is smaller now there is stereo sound with two speakers. All supported by Dolby Atmos which demonstrates its power and quality.

Thanks to it you can now place a wallpaper to see the time and notifications by pressing on the power button. What’s interesting, though, is the rest of the stuff beyond the design.
Now you can see the entire list of notifications by sliding your finger across this small screen. But you can also read emails, WhatsApp messages, and other entire contents by tapping on them. No need to open the phone completely. And if you want to answer or see all this on the inner screen, you can press the Open app button to display the phone and find all the information in large.
In addition to notifications, if you slide your finger up or down you can go through different quick settings to configure the mobile without opening it. But now there are also widgets or shortcuts that you can specify. From the music player to weather information, set an alarm, access the recorder or other apps you want to install.
