POCO M3 Pro 5G: Features, Reviews, and Prices

As if there were few phones that Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO have presented so far this year, the latter has just launched a new mid-range device: the POCO M3 Pro 5G. It is, as we can intuit from its name, the big brother of the POCO M3 and arrives with a 90 Hz screen, 5G, 5,000 mAH battery, and an insane price.

And is that the new mid-range POCO reaches the market at a price of less than €200 in its most powerful version. It will be available with 4/64 GB and 6/128 GB for €179.99 and €199.99, respectively, although between May 20 and 27 it will be possible to get it with a discount of €20. Having made the introductions, let’s get to know it a little better.

A very peculiar design

POCO M3 Pro 5G

We start by talking about the design, one of the most striking aspects of the POCO M3 Pro 5G. The device has a glossy finish in yellow, blue, and black. It highlights the black “module” in the upper left area, which expands to almost half of the terminal and the module that houses the three cameras and flash, as well as the name of the brand.

The phone weighs 190 grams, so it is not exactly light, although it is not one of the heaviest phones, and its thickness is 8.92 millimeters. The fingerprint reader has been placed on the side and the company has not forgotten either the 3.5 mm jack for headphones or the infrared sensor, something that will allow users to control the TV and other household appliances and which is not seen so often.

As for the display, the POCO M3 Pro 5G mounts a 6.5-inch IPS/LCD panel with FullHD+ resolution (2,400 x 1,080 pixels). It has an adaptive refresh rate, i.e. it automatically switches between 30, 50, 60, and 90 Hz depending on the content, and is perforated at the top to make room for the internal camera.

Other eye-catching aspects are the 3.0 reading mode which, according to POCO, offers a “paper-textured” display to reduce eye damage and the dual ambient light sensor. This consists of two sensors, one at the front and one at the back, which analyzes the light conditions all around us to adjust the brightness of the display more precisely.

MediaTek Dimensity 700 and 5,000 mAh of battery life

POCO M3 Pro 5G

For the engine of this POCO M3 Pro 5G, POCO has opted for a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor (which has integrated a 5G modem). Said processor is manufactured in a seven-nanometer process, has eight cores at 2.2 GHz maximum speed, and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. Next to it, four or six gigs of LPDDR4x RAM and 64 or 128 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage.

What brings it all to life? A 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging and Android 11 with MIUI 12 for POCO. On that note, it’s worth noting that the charger will be included in the box and will be 22.5W, so we’ll be able to take advantage of fast charging without much trouble.

As for the camera, POCO has opted for a simple and familiar configuration. On the back, we have a 48-megapixel half-inch main sensor with f/1.79 aperture, a two-megapixel f/2.4 macro, and a two-megapixel depth sensor with f/2.4 aperture. Selfies are left in the hands of an eight-megapixel f/2.0 sensor that, as a curiosity, has a night mode.
