Design
The T7i features the traditional Rebel design, with few changes from other generations. The model is compact and lightweight, which promises to make it easier to carry and move around. In addition, it features a three-inch touch display and a pop-up flash. The sides of the camera are finished in rubberized material so that it does not suffer any impact.
The device also has a space for adding an external flash and comes with a built-in microphone. The camera’s dimensions are a body measuring 7.62 x 13.21 x 9.91 cm, and it weighs 533 g, which is considered light for its category.
Screen
The Rebel T7i has a three-inch LCD panel and a touchscreen display, which makes it easier for the user to adjust settings. Like the other models in the Rebel family, the screen can rotate 360 degrees, a feature that can be very useful for taking pictures or recordings from difficult viewing angles or even taking selfies. The DLSR also features the Live View system, a method that allows the photographer to see the image in real-time in the digital viewfinder.
Performance
The manufacturer promises good image quality, with a 24.2 Megapixels CMOS sensor in APS-C format (22 x 15 mm). Its ISO can range from 100 to 25,600 for photos and can be extended up to 51,200 in H mode. In video mode, the ISO range is from 100 to 12,800 sensitivity and can go up to 25,600 in H mode.
In addition, the T7i has a Digic 7 processor, which can increase image quality and perform faster operations, even in low light. It also offers an autofocus system, which is important for beginner photographers.
Ports and connectivity
A highlight of the EOS Rebel T7i is the possibility of Wi-Fi, NFC (Near Field Communication), and Bluetooth connections. With these functions, you can exchange data with other Canon cameras that are also Wi-Fi compatible and transfer files directly to devices using the Camera Connect app.
Through NFC, the model can also connect to Canon’s Connect Station CS100 device, and upload directly to social networks such as Facebook and YouTube. Bluetooth pairing enables the camera to connect to the BR-E1 wireless remote control, allowing remote shooting.
The T7i offers SD, SDHC, SDXC, and Eye-Fi card input, with support for Ultra High Speed (UHS-I) memory models. It also features external microphone inputs and a port that allows the connection of an external flash or remote control.
Battery
The model comes with the LP-E17 battery, allowing you to shoot up to 820 photos without flash. If the flash is used for 50% of the charge, the amount ranges from 550 to 600 shots. If the Live View mode is used, the amount drops to an average of 230 photos.
According to the manufacturer, the camera takes two hours to fully charge and allows extra batteries to be used as accessories to extend the duration of use.
Extra Features
One of its most attractive features is Dual Pixel, an ultra-fast focusing system that promises to focus on the image in just 0.03 seconds. When the camera is bought in the kit, the lens has a range that goes from a wide-angle 18 mm to a standard 55 mm lens. This means that the camera is versatile and can be used for shooting sports, groups of people, landscapes, portraits, and details.
Other settings can improve the image quality, such as the exposure setting, which can be done automatically on the model. In addition to the TV or AV possibilities, another interesting function is the possibility of guided assistance in modes such as portrait or sports.
Accessories
The kit sold contains a Canon EF-S 18-55mm IS STM lens, which brings image stabilization, plus a neck strap and USB cable, battery, and charger. The box also comes with a lens protector to cover the lens.
