The manufacturer has added to its catalog a small smart speaker that is called Xiaomi Sound that supports Hi-Res Audio sound and also has the inclusion of Harman AudioEFX technology that allows you to adjust the acoustic performance of the speaker with great precision.
In addition, this new device stands out for its 360-degree surround sound and the possibility of making up to 8 of these speakers work concurrently and create a kind of “musical thread” wherever they are installed.

Small but powerful?
This is a very compact speaker that has almost the same dimensions of height, width, and depth. Its cylindrical shape is crowned by a circular surface at the top with touch access for playback and volume control, and a small LED that indicates the status of the speaker.
That surface from above appears to be “glued” to the cylinder is actually slightly separated from it, and certainly, the effect on the overall design is striking and elegant.
The speaker features a microphone array that allows you to use Xiaomi’s voice assistant (at least, in China), while the speakers are rated at 12W.
Xiaomi’s bet on sound quality certainly seems interesting: it is able to reach a sound pressure of 90 dB and has a surround sound system and Hi-Res Audio support, as well as UWB as an alternative to Bluetooth when it comes to making it work for example alongside the new Xiaomi Mi MIX 4.
To ensure that sound quality the Xiaomi Sound integrates Harman’s AudioEFX technology, which according to the manufacturer allows improving the audio performance of any device by 50% thanks to a series of algorithms that adjust bass, treble, volume, and other parameters that help the frequency response of each audio content.
However beyond all that what has surprised us most is the possibility of combining several of these speakers: it is possible to use two to create a stereo system of more guarantees, but it is also possible to combine up to eight of these speakers to create a unique solution of piped music at home (or in the office) in a simple and efficient way.
Price and availability of the Xiaomi Sound
The new Xiaomi Sound is available in China, and at the moment we do not know if the product will eventually be sold internationally. The price of the speaker is 499 yuan (about €65.49 / $77 at the exchange rate).
