The new iPhone 14 is here. Apple has just officially announced its new flagship phone, which arrives along with its bigger models, the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max, and the new iPhone 14 Plus, with a larger screen. For another year we have with us a phone that aims to become a real bestseller, thanks to that winning combination that is the Apple ecosystem, a contained size, the lowest price among the new iPhones, and the latest generation features.
Below we explain all the specifications and features of this iPhone 14, a smartphone that maintains that characteristic 6.1-inch screen, the inexhaustible Lightning connection, and the renowned Apple A15 Bionic processor. Because the new iPhone 14 improves in battery, camera, and design, the difference with the Pro models is increasingly noticeable.

Maintaining the most recognizable features of the iPhone

The iPhone 14 still looks the same as always. Unlike the Pro models, which have replaced the notch with holes in the screen, the standard model will keep the great hallmark of the iPhone in recent years.
At the design level, this iPhone 14 is very similar to the iPhone 13, with a diagonal of 6.1 inches and a compact body with IP68 water resistance. The OLED Super Retina XDR screen has improved brightness but maintains the resolution of last year’s model.

Another major difference compared to other models is the heart. For the first time, Apple opts to incorporate a different processor in the base model compared to the Pro. This means that while the Pro adds the new Apple A16 Bionic, the iPhone 14 opts for a version of the A15 Bionic with six cores and a 15% faster five-core GPU.
At the photographic level, the iPhone 14 once again features two sensors. It has a 12-megapixel main sensor with optical image stabilization ‘Sensor Shift’ and a secondary sensor of another 12 megapixels for the wide-angle. In addition to the cinematic mode in video and night mode, Apple offers 4K video recording with Dolby Vision.
Apple explains that it has improved night photography by 49% thanks to the presence of a larger sensor. With the new iPhone 14 comes a new ‘Action’ mode for improved stabilization. Deep Fusion processing has also been improved, promising an increase in color processing results. The front camera features autofocus for the first time.

Apple does not share specifications on the battery, but this section has also promised improvements to increase by several hours the autonomy compared to the iPhone 13, reaching a battery of “all day”. Once again, Apple decides to go for the Lightning connection for its flagship mobile, to the detriment of a USB-C that does not end up coming to the iPhone.

For software, we will have iOS 16, the major update of its mobile operating system. Meanwhile, at the connectivity level, we have WiFi 6 and 5G. US users will be able to enjoy the iPhone 14 without a physical SIM. However, European models will continue to have SIM as usual. The iPhone 14 is also the first to support satellite connectivity, also only for the US and Canada.
Pricing and Availability of the iPhone 14
The new iPhone 14 will be available at an official price starting at $799, the same price level as last year’s model despite pessimistic forecasts.
Apple will offer the iPhone 14 in five different colors: black, white, blue, purple, and red, available for pre-order in the US from September 7.
