Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6: Features, Reviews, and Price

Xiaomi has just unveiled the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6, which comes to succeed the successful Mi Band 5, launched in June 2020. The new model arrives with a slightly larger and sharper screen (Xiaomi boasts to have increased area by 50%) and grows from 291 pixels per inch to 326 pixels per inch.

Xiaomi has refocused the new model on sports and health monitoring, with 24-hour heart rate detection and blood oxygen saturation recording thanks to SpO2 monitoring. Let’s see what else the tiny sports wristband includes.

Small improvements that improve an already outstanding product

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 arrives to improve a base that has changed little from the fourth model, starting with the color screen.

In that sense, here again, we see an autonomy of up to 14 days (19 with the saving mode) and a water resistance up to 50 meters deep, allowing you to take it diving, swimming, or showering. For charging, the bracelet uses a magnetic connector like the one that was already in the Xiaomi Mi Band 5, which promises to charge the battery in less than two hours.

Returning to the screen, if last year Xiaomi delivered a bracelet with 1.1 inches, this year the screen of the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 grows to 1.56 inches, keeping the AMOLED technology as a base. Aesthetically, the frames look much better used than before, which means that in a similar body there is more screen and more pixels.

Customization also changes in the new bracelet, which comes with more than 130 dedicated dials, as well as four SpongeBob SquarePants covers. It is possible to choose our photos as wallpaper, something also possible in the previous model. Of course, it is still possible to control the smartphone’s music playback and read notifications.

As for more practical aspects of sports activity, one of its main tasks, Xiaomi promises 24-hour enhanced heart rate detection and recording of breathing quality during sleep and blood oxygen saturation, something more important than before due to the incidence of COVID-19. It also monitors stress levels and has a deep breathing function.

To support sport, the Mi Smart Band 6 reaches 30 activities (training modes) and automatically detects the performance of six common activities, including running, cycling, and elliptical.

As in previous years, Xiaomi has presented two models, the normal one and the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 6 NFC. This model arrives with support for mobile payments, but if they follow the tone of other previous releases, it will probably not leave the Chinese market.
