Screen and Design

Moto E6 Plus

Screen size is the first notable change between Motorola smartphones. The Moto E6 Plus has a 6.1-inch display, while the Moto E7 Plus comes with 6.5 inches. Another point is the screen resolution, which had a small change from 1560 x 720 pixels to 1600 x 720 pixels. The proportion has also changed. The format went from 19:9 to 20:9 in the successor.

In terms of design, the border structure and the notch for the front camera are similar in both devices. The fingerprint reader was also kept on the back of the phone. The difference between the two is visible on the back, as they previously had two cameras accommodated vertically in the corner, and now they are arranged in a square centered at the top.

In the case of the Moto E6 Plus, the smartphone is available for purchase in four color options, they are ruby, gray, red, and blue. For the successor of the family, the possibilities are two: blue and bronze.

Cameras

Moto E7 Plus

The rear camera remains dual, distributed between the main sensor and the depth sensor. However, the resolution jumped from 13 to 48 MP, with f/2.0 and f/1.7 aperture, respectively. One of the highlights of the new generation is the night mode, a tool that makes the Moto E7 Plus four times more sensitive to light, providing images with higher quality even with little brightness in the environment. The tool is also seen in Motorola One Vision.

While there are differences in the rear camera, nothing changes in the front. The 8 MP is found in both Moto E6 Plus and Moto E7 Plus. What changes is the aperture, which goes from f/2.0 to f/2.2. Another feature in common is the enhancement, which retouches the photos, and the portrait mode, a famous feature that blurs the background of the image.

Performance and Storage

Moto E7 Plus processor

The changes also appear in this aspect, as the generation switch from the MediaTek Helio P22 of the Moto E6 Plus to the Snapdragon 460 in the successor model. The first chipset is an octa-core with a speed of up to 2.0 GHz, while the second is 1.8 GHz. In the product presentation, Motorola states that the new processor offers a 50% optimization in Moto E7 Plus performance compared to the previous cell phone.

As far as storage is concerned, the Moto E6 Plus presents two options, one of 2 GB of RAM accompanied by 32 GB for storage of data, or of 4 GB + 64 GB. The Moto E7 Plus has only one version with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Both phones have support for memory cards.

Battery

Moto E7 Plus battery

The battery capacity of the Moto E6 Plus is 3,000 mAh, well reduced compared to the Moto E5 Plus, which had 5,000 mAh. The Moto E7 Plus brings back the capacity of 5,000 mAh seen in the fifth generation.

The E7 Plus promises two days away from the outlets, scaling the power between 15 hours of internet surfing, 21 hours of watching videos, or 107 hours of audio playback. The phone also comes with a 10 W fast charger in the box.

Android Version

The E6 Plus Motorcycle comes with the Android 9 (Pie) factory version and until then has not received an upgrade to the Android 10 version. Moto E7 Plus already comes with Android 10 installed, which brings some different features like dark mode, customizations, and gesture navigation.

Additional Features

Moto E6 Plus

The Moto E6 Plus has features such as facial recognition and fingerprint. The Moto E7 Plus brings a specific button to activate the Google Assistant, which is located on the side, next to the volume and screen lock buttons. The latest model also features Hello You, a tool that shows items in a personalized way, such as news and tips.

Both devices bring a micro USB input to the charger, different from other models that already use USB-C. Besides, neither of them offers NFC or 5G internet support. However, cell phones differ in the Bluetooth version, the older one has the 4.2 version and the successor has the 5.0.
