The difference between TVs and monitors is getting smaller and smaller. LG has just introduced the new LG 48GQ900 monitor, its first gaming monitor with an OLED panel. Almost like a 48-inch LG C2, but with a central stand, a response time of 0.1 milliseconds, and all the technologies expected of a gaming monitor.
These are the features of LG’s new gaming monitor. It is not the first time LG uses this technology in monitors, but it is the first time it uses its OLED panels in a gaming monitor of the UltraGear range.

Up to 138 Hz and Nvidia and AMD compatible

This is a 48-inch monitor with an OLED panel, to which an anti-reflective coating is added. As expected for its size, it offers a 4K resolution with 3,840 x 2,160 pixels. In terms of refresh rate, the monitor offers a native rate of 120 Hz, but it can also be increased by overclocking up to 138 Hz.
In addition to the contrast benefits of OLED, the monitor comes with HDR10 and a color gamut that covers 98.5% of the DCI-P3 space. Response time is also very low, at only 0.1 milliseconds. This is probably the big difference between this monitor and its siblings, the TVs. While TVs are in picture mode to favor cinema, this LG Ultragear 48GQ900 defaults to gaming mode.

As has been the case for some time with TVs, this monitor adds support for Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync.

Another difference is the center stand, designed to offer good stability. However, the LG UltraGear 48GQ900 comes with a small remote control. Another addition that can make us doubt whether it is a monitor or a TV.

In terms of connections, the LG monitor includes four ports to connect headphones and play games, offering DTS:X surround sound through them. There is also an HDMI 2.1 port with variable refresh rate (VRR) support. For the sound, we have two included speakers of 20W each.
