LG OLED WX: Features, Reviews, and Price

For at least a couple of years, LG has been launching a television set that is different from the others. It is known as a “wallpaper” television and is part of the manufacturer’s Signature range of home appliances. We are talking about the LG OLED W series, and this year’s OLED TVs are a must-have. The new model is called the LG OLED WX and comes with some very interesting new features. For example, the new design of the soundbar that comes with the TV has been changed.

On the other hand, the new image technologies that we have seen in the rest of the OLED range have been incorporated. Thus, the LG OLED WX features Dolby Vision IQ, Alpha 9 Gen3 processor, Filmmaker Mode, HDMI 2.1 connectors, new game functions, and the webOS 5.0 operating system. All this is in a modern design that is still truly eye-catching. Let’s take a look at what the new LG OLED WX has to offer.

A TV that Blends to the Wall

One of the most striking features of the LG OLED WX is undoubtedly its design. This is a TV that has a special system for placing it on the wall. This system leaves the TV only 3 millimeters from the wall, so it looks like it is glued together instead of hanging.

To achieve this, LG had to take all the electronics out to an outside unit and leave the panel alone. Also, the manufacturer has taken the opportunity to improve one of the most critical areas of TVs that are so narrow: audio. So the TV’s electronics, connectors, and speakers are all on an external soundbar.

This year the soundbar has also undergone a design change. It is now a slightly square and thinner unit. In its interior, there is a 4.2-channel unit with a total power of 60W.

It has Dolby Atmos technology and AI Sound Pro. Also, the LG OLED WX is compatible with Bluetooth surround audio, so you can complete the sound system with a pair of LG Bluetooth speakers and have a system with real surround sound.

New Processor and Dolby Vision IQ

As far as the image is concerned, the LG OLED WX has all the new features we have seen in the LG OLED GX and the LG OLED CX.

Everything is controlled by the new 3rd generation Alpha 9 processor. It uses Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning to scale any type of content to 4K resolution. This ensures that even the lowest-resolution videos are displayed correctly.

In addition to the new version of the Alpha 9 processor, other new features are Dolby Vision IQ and Filmmaker Mode. With Dolby Vision IQ, screen brightness, color, and contrast are automatically adjusted according to the content genre and light conditions.

The Filmmaker Mode is the mode designed by filmmakers to let us see content the way they want it to look. The processor automatically adjusts the image, disabling motion interpolation, to show creative intent and an intact cinematic experience.

New Features for Gamers and Web 5.0

The LG OLED WX also includes the gaming features that its range sisters have. It features HDMI 2.1, HDR GiG, ALLM connectors, and a 1ms response time.

It is also equipped with OLED Motion Pro, a technology that seeks to provide the best performance in fast-moving images, such as sports.

And, of course, one of the simplest and most complete Smart TV systems on the market cannot be missed. The LG OLED WX comes with webOS 5.0, a system that gives us access to the vast majority of applications that everyone is looking for, including Apple TV+ and Disney+.

Price and Availability

According to the information provided by LG, the LG OLED WX will be available in 65 inches only. Its price will be $4,999.99.

However, for those looking for a larger model, LG has decided to keep the 77-inch LG OLED W9 on sale. This model features the Alpha 9 processor but is of the second generation. Also, although it has Dolby Vision, it does not have the Dolby Vision IQ system. And finally, the soundbar has a slightly different design than the 2020 model.

The 77-inch LG OLED W9 is on sale at the official price of $9,999.99
