Xiaomi cares a lot about the TV market. We do not say so; it is stated, between the lines, by the management of this company. And their philosophy demonstrates this very clearly: Xiaomi’s parent company is only 100% responsible for the design and manufacture of smartphones, routers, and televisions.
The first TV of this brand, the Mi TV 4S model, arrived the end of 2019, and since then we have had the opportunity to analyze several of its mid-range and high-end proposals. The TV that stars in this article arrives today in stores and does so with the ambition to fight in a mid-range that is more competitive than ever armed with interesting specifications and a breakthrough price.

Not only inherits from the high-end the absence of frames; also Dolby Vision support
The heart of this TV is an LCD panel with peripheral LED backlighting, 4K UHD resolution, and a native refresh rate of 60 Hz. Xiaomi officials have not yet been able to confirm to us whether this matrix is VA or IPS type (although we suspect it is IPS), but beyond this data, we are reasonably sure that it is an 8-bit panel equipped with FRC technology and not a 10-bit matrix.
In the photographs illustrating this article we can see that the top and side frames are very thin, which gives this TV a neat aesthetic. In addition, to provide the panel with the stability it requires, it uses side feet very similar to those used in the Mi TV P1 and Mi TV 4S models. And to solve the interaction with the TV, also like most of the proposals of this brand, gives us a remote control with Bluetooth connectivity.
One of the features that will allow this TV to compete with guarantees in the mid-range is its ability to deal with all HDR formats we currently use: Dolby Vision, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG. Probably its panel and backlighting will not give us the most impressive experience with these contents, but it is a good idea that we are not forced to face a significant outlay to get a TV compatible with Dolby Vision.
Fire OS 7 is at the heart of the experience that this TV offers us
Unlike the other TVs that Xiaomi has launched so far in countries like Spain, this TV F2 does not bet on the combination of Android TV and PatchWall (this is the interface developed by the Chinese brand itself); it incorporates Fire OS 7, the platform developed by Amazon. However, those responsible for the Spanish subsidiary of Xiaomi have assured us that the revision of this operating system that incorporates this TV makes available to users the most popular apps currently.
As far as connectivity is concerned, all HDMI inputs implement the 2.0 standard, and not the 2.1. However, on paper, this TV offers reasonably good sound. Even more than some of the Xiaomi models that we have analyzed so far. It can process DTS-HD sound, DTS Virtual X, and Dolby Audio, a versatility that, curiously, not many high-end models propose to us. It is a pity that it has not topped this section in style by also giving us the possibility of processing Dolby Atmos audio.
Xiaomi TV F2: price and availability
