Rain of foldables. Samsung presented yesterday the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, Motorola presented this morning in China the Motorola Razr 2022, and now it’s Xiaomi’s turn.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is the most ambitious proposal by Xiaomi in the foldable territory. The rear design is completely renewed, although the concept remains similar to what we have already seen with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold: a mobile that wants to be a tablet when we unfold it.

Same concept, greater ambition
The first key point of this MIX Fold 2 is its thickness, one of the great challenges in foldable phones. When open it is only 5.4mm thick, reaching 11.2mm when folded. It is still a bit thicker than a “normal” phone, but it is not as far away as other foldable phones. They emphasize the strength of the hinge, ensuring that its mechanism is lighter and stronger than the direct competition.
The panel format is 21:9 interior, with 8.02 inches (half an inch more compared to the Z Fold4). They call it Eco OLED, a technology with one layer less than rival OLEDs. This allows the glass sheet to be thinner than usual, promising along the way that it will be more scratch-resistant.
It is also a second-generation LTPO type, moving between 1 and 120 Hz. Maximum brightness is 1,000 nits, with peak brightness peaking at 1,300.
The outer display is 6.56 inches, also Dolby Vision compatible, with 1,000 nits brightness and OLED type E5, i.e. the latest technology available at the time. The bet on the screen seems more ambitious than ever.
The processor of the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and the 4,500mAh battery with 67W charging. The main camera is a 50-megapixel IMX766, accompanied by a 13-megapixel ultra wide-angle. It does not lack a telephoto lens with 2X zoom. The cameras come signed by Leica, as in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
The software has been optimized for this foldable, redesigning MIUI (Android 12) so that the apps adapt to the content. The interface is more similar to that of a tablet, something similar to what we see on a Mi Pad. The sound is signed by Harman Kardon.
Pricing and Availability of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 has gone on sale in China at a price starting at 8,999 yuan. A high figure, but usually in this type of device. There is no news about its global availability, but these are the other prices according to version. It will be sold:
