TCL Book 14 Go: TCL’s first ARM laptop hits the educational market with a low price and good autonomy

Since 2020, ARM laptops have demonstrated their full potential, and TCL aims to take advantage of it with the new TCL Book 14 Go, an economic laptop which the company wanted to join the trend by saying goodbye to Intel or AMD to gain possibilities that their chips do not offer.

The company chosen to power Windows 11 on ARM has been the only company that can currently work with Microsoft’s operating system, which is none other than Qualcomm. The TCL Book 14 Go is a Snapdragon 7c, which is not the best, but its focus on light educational tasks may be more than enough.

A thin and light laptop for light and office needs

TCL Book 14 Go

The TCL Book 14 Go is an entry-level laptop that the Asian company aims at a very specific target audience, students and young people who do not need a lot of power but do need a certain lightness and autonomy. In that sense, this laptop weighs 1.3 kilos and has a thickness of 13.95 millimeters, so it competes with ultrabooks in this regard. It is larger in other aspects, as it has a 14.1″ screen, with a 1366 x 768 panel of technology not indicated by the brand. For video calls, the device has a 1-megapixel front camera that records at 720p.

In its body, we find plastic, but also a metal frame that gives it a certain resistance and durability, as well as a somewhat more premium aesthetic. Inside, as we said, there is a Snapdragon 7c, an entry-level chip with eight cores up to 2.4 GHz, and with the Adreno 618 as CPU.

It is not the latest from Qualcomm in this range, as it has already been presented until the third generation of the 7c. The TCL Book 14 Go features LTE connectivity via nanoSIM cards, using Qualcomm’s integrated X15 LTE modem, which offers speeds up to category 4.

Storage is 128 GB but can be expanded with SDHC and SDCX cards. RAM, like the rest of the device, will offer entry-level performance, with 4 GB. Where this configuration helps the most is autonomy, as the laptop offers, according to TCL, up to 12 hours of autonomy with its 5,300 mAh, although they do not detail under what circumstance it has been tested. For charging, TCL uses a USB-C port with Power Delivery, with a 24-watt charger built into the box. It also has a USB 3.0 port.
