Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra: Features, Reviews, and Prices

Samsung has decided to show all its artillery for 2022. After the presentation of the new Galaxy S22, Samsung has also unveiled the new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, its three high-end tablets for this year. These are the features of Samsung’s new tablets, with a 120 Hz display and the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor.

New from Samsung is the arrival of the Ultra model to the tablet range, a move that we already saw last year in its smartphones and now also makes an appearance in tablets. While the base model remains at 11 inches and the Plus at 12.4 inches, the new Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra model grows to 14.6 inches, while maintaining an ultra-thin profile with a thickness of only 5.5 millimeters.

The main difference between the Galaxy Tab S8, the Plus, and the Ultra models is in the display. The former arrives with an 11-inch LTPS panel with WQXGA resolution, equivalent to 2K resolution in a 16:10 format. Meanwhile, the Plus and Ultra models arrive with a panel similar in proportion but 12.4 and 14.6 inches respectively and with SuperAMOLED technology. All three panels are 120 Hz adaptive and come protected with Gorilla Glass 5.

One of the most striking features this year is its ultra-thin profile, with only a thickness of 5.5 millimeters in the Ultra model and a weight of 726 g. Light considering its size. Not far behind is the Galaxy Tab S8+ model, with a thickness of 5.7 mm. In terms of sound, the Galaxy Tab S8 comes with four stereo speakers signed by AKG and is compatible with Dolby Atmos’ sound.

For the multimedia section, Samsung incorporates a 12-megapixel front camera. That is the standard version since the Ultra model comes with a dual front camera capable of automatically switching to wide-angle when we zoom out or zoom in, very useful for video calls points Samsung.

Inside the Galaxy Tab S8, we have the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (898) processor, manufactured in 4 nanometers and compatible with 5G networks. As usual in tablets, Wi-Fi only and data versions will be offered.

Accompanying the processor there are up to 16 GB of RAM in the Ultra model and 512 GB of storage, which will be expandable via microSD card up to an additional 1 TB. The Galaxy Tab S8 model will come with between 8 and 12 GB and its maximum storage will be 256 GB.

Next to the Qualcomm chipset is the Samsung Knox chipset, also found in the Galaxy S22. This is a dedicated chipset in which the device can store encrypted information, only accessible from this Knox chip.

As for the battery, the Galaxy Tab S8 comes with 8,000 mAh along with fast charging up to 45W. The top models equivalently add more battery, going up to 10,090 mAh and 11,200 mAh respectively.

The Galaxy Tab S8 model comes with a side fingerprint reader, while those with an AMOLED display offer an under-screen reader. In terms of connectivity, there is Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. But if there is an interesting addition is the improvement of the S-Pen. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is compatible with the new S-Pen that offers a latency of only 2.8 ms and can detect up to writing in up to 88 languages. For the operating system, Samsung relies on Android 12 and its customization layer in the One UI 4 Tab version.

The new Samsung Galaxy Tab S8 and Tab S8 Ultra will be available in different configurations and prices, depending on their storage and memory. The Galaxy Tab S8 model will be available in black, silver, and rose gold. The Ultra model will only be available in black (graphite).
