HMD Global, the company behind the Nokia brand, has long been reviving classic phones and updating them for today. There is the Nokia 3310, the Nokia 8810 (a.k.a. the ‘Matrix’ mobile), and now we have the Nokia 6300 4G and Nokia 8000 4G, two classic mobiles from the Finnish firm.
Both devices continue to rely on the design of yesteryear, although this has been modernized with new colors and finishes. It runs on the KaiOS operating system, which is compatible with different applications (such as WhatsApp), so you can’t say that they are exactly “dumb mobiles”. Their prices are €49 (~$58) and €79 (~$93), respectively.

As we can see in the table above, the Nokia 6300 4G and Nokia 8000 4G are quite similar inside. The differences in design are there, of course, but what changes are the resolution of the camera and the size of the screen, which is somewhat larger in the Nokia 6300 4G. Otherwise, the same.
The Nokia 6300 4G retains the upper “module” with the screen, the multi-directional control, and the six buttons, leaving the alphanumeric keyboard in the lower area. The Nokia 8000 4G, on the other hand, has a more elegant front, always of the same color, with the multi-directional control integrated into the keys of the upper area.
In the back, there is a clean finish and in different colors. There are only the LED flash and the camera. We have not mentioned the front camera because neither of the two devices has one, so to have a selfie we will have to turn the phone. However, these types of devices are usually focused on disconnection and basic use, so in principle, it fits with the strategy of HMD Global.
Under the hood of both terminals, there is a Snapdragon 205 processor, 512 MB of RAM, and 4 GB of internal storage that can be expanded with microSD cards up to 32 GB. The battery is 1500 mAh (removable, by the way) and, according to HMD Global, can last “days”, although they have not been more specific.
The operating system is KaiOS. What does that mean? That they are relatively smartphones since they are compatible with applications such as WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube, and Google Maps. They also have Google Assistant. It is a basic operating system and the components that are inside should be able to run it without major problems, at least on paper.
