Screen and Design

Edge Plus

The screen is one of the first differences between the handsets, as it is 6.7 inches from the Motorola Edge Plus versus 6.1 inches from the iPhone 12 Pro. In terms of resolution, Apple’s cell phone can deliver too many pixels. There are 2532 x 1170 pixels on the iPhone as opposed to 2340 x 1080 pixels on the Motorola handset. Despite the various distinctions, the OLED panel is a common specification for both phones.

The iPhone 12 Pro stands out in the aspect of water resistance and splash, as it brings IP68 protection, while the rival uses IP54. In short, Apple’s cell phone is best suited for those who live constantly in adverse conditions.

Still, in terms of finish, the iPhone 12 line smartphones bring Ceramic Shield, which promises to be the most resistant glass present in a cell phone at the moment.

While the Motorola Edge Plus features an almost edge-free screen with a hole in the panel to house the front camera, the iPhone 12 Pro retains the notch seen in the previous generation, used to accommodate the sensor for selfies and audio output.

In terms of refresh rate, the iPhone 12 Pro brought only 60 Hz, while the Motorola Edge Plus uses 90 Hz for this.

Cameras

Apple iPhone 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max

The iPhone 12 Pro uses a triple 12 MP photo set on the ultra-wide, wide sensors and a telephoto camera. The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max were praised in the ranking made by the specialized photography website DxOMark, which praised the images made by Apple’s device. For selfies, the smartphone also has a 12 MP sensor.

One of the highlights that the iPhone 12 Pro offers is the LiDAR scanner, used in photographs to create a depth map of the site. The phone also features an optimized version of Intelligent HDR, double optical image stabilization, and night mode for photos in low-light environments.

The Motorola device brings a primary camera of 108 MP, 16 MP in the hybrid sensor that performs the function of ultra-wide and macro, and 8 MP in the telephoto.

Like the iPhone 12 Pro, the Motorola Edge Plus features HDR and tools to enhance photos in dark places. A unique feature of Edge Plus is Quad Pixel technology, capable of joining four pixels in one to generate the final 27 MP files.

Performance and Storage

The iPhone 12 Pro has three storage versions, 128, 256, and 512 GB. The Motorola Edge Plus, in turn, brings only one option of 256 GB. The iPhone 12 Pro’s RAM is not officially released by Apple, but specialized sites report that it has 6 GB. The technical sheet of the Motorola cell phone brings 12 GB of RAM. None of the phones has support for memory cards.

A14 Bionic

As for the processor, the iPhone 12 Pro brings the A14 Bionic, the apple company’s processor which promises to be up to 50% more powerful than its rivals. In benchmarks, such as AnTuTu’s, Apple’s system in the Pro handset yielded 572,133 points, behind other Android devices that use the Snapdragon 865, such as the Motorola Edge Plus.

The chipset on the Motorola smartphone is the Snapdragon 865 (octa-core with speeds up to 2.84 GHz) and is one of Qualcomm’s newest platforms.

Battery

Apple does not report the raw battery capacity of the iPhone 12 Pro, but experts estimate the phone to be 2,815 mAh. Apple promises video streaming for 11 hours straight and 65 hours of uninterrupted audio playback. Charging can be done with or without wires and also features MagSafe technology, with a magnet system to be used with chargers, wallets, and accessories through magnetism. The launch of the iPhone 12 line was marked by the beginning of the strategy of not including the plug adapter in the smartphone boxes anymore.

Motorola’s information indicates that the battery capacity of the Motorola Edge Plus is 5,000 mAh, a quantity that promises up to two days of use away from the outlets. The smartphone has support for fast, reverse, and wireless charging modes. One issue that may represent a disadvantage is the power of the charger, which totals 18 W and can deliver a slower recharge.
