Huawei, along with its new P50e, has just made official the Huawei FreeBuds 4e. As they have done with the little version of the P50, these headphones are a new version of the Huawei FreeBuds 4, with a more economical cut.
This generation bets again on active noise cancellation, careful design, and a case that promises up to 22 hours of autonomy. We review in depth the technical characteristics of these headphones.

Low-cost noise cancellation

The Huawei FreeBuds 4e is a cheaper version of the FreeBuds 4, Huawei’s headphones to compete against Apple’s AirPods. The design is virtually identical, sharing dimensions and weight with their bigger models. The case is also the same, with the small charging indicator and the Type-C port.
They also share the rest of the technical sheet with the FreeBuds 4, including the autonomy. This stands at 4h without active noise cancellation, 2.5h when active, and up to 22 hours with the box. 14h with the box and active noise cancellation.
They arrive in the same way with gesture control, position detection, and compatibility with both iOS and Android. They are HarmonyOS ecosystem headphones, so they work especially well with Huawei products in the face of pairing.
Looking at the datasheet, it is difficult to find differences with the Huawei FreeBuds 4. As our colleagues point out, there seem to be differences in the internal construction, with this E version having a few fewer elements in terms of audio quality. In short, it seems a similar move to that of the Huawei P30 New Edition: launching the same product as last year with negligible changes a second time but at a lower price.
Pricing and availability of the Huawei FreeBuds 4e
The Huawei FreeBuds 4e is priced at €99 at the exchange rate and has been put on sale, first of all, for the Chinese market. They will be available in three colors: red, silver, and white. We will update this post in case they end up landing in the global markets, as they are strong candidates to compete in the middle segment of Bluetooth audio.
