Galaxy Watch4: Features, Reviews, and Price

Samsung has revamped its family of smartwatches. Yes, the whole family at once. That is why we now find ourselves with the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Series, which is divided into two models: Classic, with the round and rotating frame, and the normal one that replaces the Active family, with a simpler and sportier design. Although what is striking about these new watches is the collaboration between Samsung and Google for the operating system that moves everything in these devices.

And now the two companies worked hand in hand to develop what they have called Wear OS powered by Samsung. A version of the Wear OS operating system with Samsung’s additions and services. In this way, Samsung watches gain features such as map services to tell you step by step where to go, or the ability to proactively send a message, but without neglecting the advances and technologies developed by Samsung as fall detection, take advantage of all the sensors of the device and other qualities.

A mix that seems to work well and that aims to unify or work together with One UI in Samsung cell phones, synchronizing details such as alarms and rest hours, vetoed phone numbers, and other details such as apps and wallpapers. The idea is that the experience will be the same on the watch and the mobile.

This brain processes all the data collected by the numerous sensors distributed throughout the body of the watch. It lacks nothing: accelerometer, barometer, gyroscope, compass, brightness sensor, Samsung’s BioActive sensor to measure the pulse, a sensor for electrocardiograms, and the novelty of this edition: the BIA or Bioelectrical Resistance Analysis Sensor. An addition that can analyze muscle mass, bone mass, and other data to have a complete record of our body.

New Functions, New Challenges

This new set of all-in-one sensors makes the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Series family gain new functionalities. The most striking is to get a detailed analysis of our body composition. Just as some scales do, by launching a small electric current through our bodies from an electrode to electrode, these watches can know a multitude of data. Depending on the delay of the electrical impulse, it can calculate the percentage of body fat, the weight of our muscles, calculate the muscle fat index, the amount of water we have, and other details.

They have also improved the auto-detection of more than 100 activities to avoid having to proactively measure workouts. And they have created social interaction to pose health challenges with friends and get more motivation to move. Something already seen with the activity circles of the Apple Watch.

Along with this, they have also improved qualities such as the measurement of rest. Now the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 Series can hear you snoring. They will measure whether you snore or not, when and at what volume. It will measure your blood oxygen level at night as well. All this so you can be aware of another important point of your health.

In addition, Samsung wants to make you train from the watch and is working to develop workouts that you can launch from the watch to your Samsung TV to be guided and do it from home.

They have also introduced gestures to use functions from the watch: shake up and down your wrist to take a call, shake sideways to hang up or cancel an alarm, or tap your knuckles a couple of times in the air on an imaginary door to perform a pre-programmed action.
