The Galaxy S20 FE and Galaxy M62 are Samsung phones that are serious about delivering great value for money. The S20 FE features a powerful processor, triple camera, and 5G internet support. The M62, on the other hand, really shines due to its 7,000 mAh battery, considered gigantic by today’s standards and promising up to three days of usage away from the power outlet.
The Galaxy 20 Fan Edition (FE) landed on the market in 2020, but can already be found at around $529. Meanwhile, the M62 was launched in 2021 and appears for $410. In the following lines, explore the features and comparison between the smartphones.

Screen and design
While the Galaxy M62 offers a 6.7-inch Full HD+ (1080 x 2400 pixels) display, the S20 FE delivers slightly smaller proportions, with 6.5 inches and the same resolution. The biggest difference is in the refresh rate: the S20 FE brings 120 Hz against 60 Hz of the M62, which means that using the former will have more fluid system animations and games.
In terms of finish, the S20 FE has Gorilla Glass 3 as a differential, which tends to deliver greater protection against scratches on the screen. In addition, the model also features IP68 certification, which protects against water splashes and dust. According to the manufacturer, the water resistance is up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes.
The aesthetics of the front of the two phones are very similar, both with a selfie camera built into the screen. On the back, the M62 opts to bring the camera module in the shape of a square with relief and frame. The S20 FE, on the other hand, highlights the lens in a black rectangle that contrasts with the rest of the phone. It is worth mentioning that the back material applied on both smartphones is plastic.
Cameras
The photographic arrangement also highlights a relevant difference between the two models. The Galaxy S20 FE, for example, distributes the triple camera lenses between main, ultra-wide, and telephoto. The M62 smartphone, on the other hand, features a quad camera module and dedicates an exclusive sensor for macro imaging.
The Galaxy M62 features a set of four cameras on the rear:
- 64 MP main camera (f/1.8)
- 12 MP Ultra-wide (f/2.2)
- 5 MP Macro (f/2.4)
- 5 MP depth sensor (f/2.4)
The S20 FE’s lens set is like this:
- 12 MP main (f/1.8),
- 12 MP ultra-wide (f/2.2)
- 8 MP telephoto lens (f/2.4)
When it comes to taking selfies, both Samsung models feature a 32 Megapixels camera with f/2.2 aperture. Although they record movies in 4K, the S20 FE gets 60 frames per second, while the M62, only 30. Another difference is the optical stabilizer (OIS) in favor of the S line, whose feature should ensure the models a higher quality image magnification and sharp records.
Performance and Storage
The new version of the Fan Edition features the Snapdragon 865 processor, which performed well in benchmark tests such as Geekbench when the S20 FE scored 901 points with the Qualcomm chip against 887 points with the Exynos processor. In total, it features eight cores of up to 2.84 GHz. Its performance should not leave anything to be desired in daily tasks.
The Galaxy M62, on the other hand, features the Exynos 9825. The processor has eight cores and speeds between 1.95 and 2.73 GHz.
While the M62 features only the option of 8 GB of RAM, the S20 is flexible and can have, depending on the version, between 6 GB and 8 GB. As for internal storage, both models can range between 128 GB and 256 GB. Both Galaxy phones allow the possibility of memory expansion via MicroSD card.
Battery
The S20 FE has a 4,500 mAh battery. Depending on usage, the user should have enough availability for up to 19 hours of video playback or 14 hours surfing the 4G internet. It is worth mentioning, however, that the component left something to be desired in tests, especially when the screen was at the highest capacity of the refresh rate, 120 Hz. In this regard, users are recommended to disable this function when not needed to alleviate power consumption.
Meanwhile, the M62 wins by a landslide. With the power of 7,000 mAh, the smartphone has a prominent position and is one of the largest on the market. It even beats even premium phones. This means, that all this capacity should allow between two or three of the device away from the socket, according to the manufacturer.
Both devices are compatible with 25 Watt fast charging, which should provide a full battery charge in just under two hours. The phones come with a charger in the starter box. In addition, the S20 FE still features Wireless PowerShare technology, which ensures the device is charged by proximity and wirelessly.
Android Version
The Galaxy S20 FE comes out of the factory with the Android 10 system, which is a bit old but will receive Android 13, according to Samsung. Whereas the Galaxy M62 model comes with Android 11 from the factory and should receive new system versions by 2024.
Additional Features
Perhaps the biggest difference between them is that the new version of the Galaxy S20 FE has 5G network access availability – meaning it is ready for the connection of the future. The expectation is that 5G will bring internet up to 50 times faster than that found today. The M62 model, on the other hand, is restricted to 4G LTE.
Another distinction is the fingerprint sensor. While the S20 brings the feature integrated into the screen of the device, the M62 has the biometric sensor on the side of the phone, located just below the volume button and in a favorable position for the thumb (if you are right-handed).
In terms of connectivity, both smartphones have Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC in their specifications, a technology that allows payments to be made by proximity via Samsung Pay. In addition, they have Wi-Fi 6.
Price and Availability
The M62 arrived on the market in August 2021. Currently, it can be purchased for $410. As for the colors, Samsung offers only two shades: blue and black.
The S20 FE, on the other hand, has been available since November 2020. It can already be found for lower prices at online retailers. In all, the model has six color options: navy blue, white, violet (lilac), green, red, and orange. On the Amazon site, the figures start at $529 with a capacity of 128 GB.
