Screen and Design
The screen of the Galaxy A71 is a little larger than that of the Galaxy S20 FE. It is 6.7 inches versus 6.5 inches. The resolution is the same for both smartphones, since both bring a Full HD+ display (2400 x 1080 pixels). However, they differ in panel type. While the Galaxy S20 FE uses Super AMOLED technology, the A71 invests in this same type, only in the Plus version, which promises to provide twice as many subpixels.
On the other hand, though the A-line representative stands out in the panel sharpness, the S20 FE features as a positive point the 120 Hz refresh rate to provide greater fluidity in image transition. Another issue where Galaxy S20 FE comes out ahead is the IP68 water and dust resistance certification, while Galaxy A71 does not feature this technology.
With the same hole structure on the screen for the front camera and rectangle on the back for the photo set, the two mobile phones also have a plastic finish in common. The colors available for the Galaxy S20 FE are red, lavender, orange, mint, navy, and white, while the Galaxy A71 can be purchased in blue, black, silver, and gray finishes.
Camera
The Galaxy S20 FE’s camera is the most basic of the S20 line and brings in the arrangement of three lenses distributed between ultra-wide and wide, with 12 MP and telephoto lens, with 8 MP. The sensor for selfies brings 32 MP and the triple camera also features zoom up to 30 times, night mode, and Single Take the tool to transform sequences of captures into varied videos.
The Galaxy A71 features a 64 MP main sensor. Also, there are three other 12 MP, 5 MP, and 5 MP sensors for the ultra-wide, macro, and depth cameras, respectively. As with its rival, the Galaxy A71 also offers 32 MP for recording selfies. The S20 FE records video at 4K at 60 frames per second, while the A71 also records at 4K, but at only 30 fps.
Performance and Storage
The Galaxy A71 arrives with only one hardware possibility: 128 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM. The S20 FE has options of 128 GB and 256 GB of data space, which comes with 6 GB and 8 GB of RAM, respectively. Both cell phones bring the possibility of expanding storage through a microSD card.
While the A71 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730 processor, the S20 FE features Samsung’s own Exynos 990 chip. The first is a 2.2 GHz octa-core and the second, also with eight cores, has a speed of up to 2.73 GHz.
Battery
Both phones offer a 4,500 mAh battery. Even with equal numbers, Samsung promises that the Galaxy A71 tends to provide seven hours more video playback and 30 extra hours for audio playback compared to the Galaxy S20 FE.
They also feature support for fast charging via a 25W charger. In addition to this mode, the S20 family member can also perform reverse and wireless charging.
Android Version
The Galaxy A71 and Galaxy S20 FE come out with Android 10 at the factory but should receive an upgrade to Android 11, the latest version of Google’s system. The list published by Samsung’s subsidiary in Egypt states that the A71 can receive the update from May 2021. The South Korean giant has also committed to updating the Galaxy S20 FE until Android 13 but has not informed the date for the arrival of the Android 11 version on the device.
Additional Features
In the physical aspect, one of the features present in both cell phones is the fingerprint reader, which is integrated into the screen itself. In the digital tools, Bixby, Samsung’s virtual assistant, is also present in the Galaxy A71 and Galaxy S20 FE.
In terms of connectivity, the devices bring Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC, a technology that allows payments by proximity via Samsung Pay. However, both of them have 5G internet.

The Galaxy A71 arrived in January 2020, but currently, it can be found for $353 in online retail. The Galaxy S20 FE landed in November but is currently seen for $599.
