Screen and design
The two phones are quite similar in appearance. The design is refined, with the camera module higher, but not as noticeable in relation to the rest of the rear. The finish is matte and comes in four color options: black, white, blue, and violet. On the front, the devices bring thin edges and a selfie camera allocated in a hole at the top center.

The difference is in the size. While the Galaxy A52 has a 6.5-inch panel, the A72 comes with a 6.7-inch screen. Other than that, the display has the same features on both, with Super AMOLED technology, Full HD+ resolution, and 90 Hz refresh rate.
Camera
On both devices, the rear camera array has four cameras, with three of them having the same features:
- Main: 64 MP and f/1.8 aperture
- Ultra wide: 12 MP and f/2.2 aperture
- Macro: 5 MP and f/2.4 aperture

On the Galaxy A52, the fourth sensor is a 5 MP depth sensor (f/2.4), used to produce portrait mode photos. The Galaxy A72, on the other hand, features an 8 MP (f/2.4) telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom and OIS stabilization. The front camera is 32 MP on both phones.
Performance and storage
When it comes to performance and storage, the models repeat the same specifications. They come equipped with a Snapdragon 720G processor, an octa-core up to 2.3 GHz, 6 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage.
Both feature expandability of up to 1 TB of memory via microSD card.
Battery

The Galaxy A72 battery has a larger capacity than the A52. They bring 5,000 mAh and 4,500 mAh components, respectively. It is worth noting that the larger screen requires more power. Both have support for fast charging up to 25 W and the manufacturer promises two days of autonomy.
Android and additional features

The phones come out of the box running Android 11, with One UI 3.1 interface. They feature an on-screen fingerprint reader, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, and IP67 certification, and can survive up to 30 minutes under five feet of water.
The devices come with a charger in the box. For purchases made at Samsung’s online and physical stores through May 9, they also qualify for wireless headphones, Galaxy Buds+ for the Galaxy A52, and Galaxy Buds Live for the A72.
