So this year the well-known manufacturer has renewed its range of soundbars. Specifically, LG has presented no less than 6 different models, with equipment for all tastes and pockets.
Once again, LG is committed to technologies such as Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Hi-Res, and Meridian. The collaboration with the latter, which has been going on for several years now, brings in technologies like Bass & Space and Image Elevation to guarantee higher quality basses and create a more immersive atmosphere. Let’s take a look at what the new LG soundbars have to offer in 2023.
LG SN5Y
The LG SN5Y is the most affordable of the models presented. It is a 2.1-channel system that includes a wireless subwoofer. It offers 400W of power (220W from the subwoofer) and DTS Virtual:X surround sound technology. Also, it supports wireless rear speaker connectivity, allowing a 4.1-channel system to be mounted with virtually no cables.
The SN5Y features AI Sound Pro, a system that automatically analyzes your content to optimize your audio settings in real-time. This results in clearer sound and action-packed sound.
In terms of audio formats, the LG SN5Y is compatible with Dolby Digital, DTS, LPCM, and Hi-Res 24-bit/96kHz sound. And in terms of connectivity, it has two HDMI inputs, one optical, one USB port, and Bluetooth 4.0.

LG SN8YG
With the LG SN8YG, there is a significant leap in both price and quality. This is a system with 3.1.2 channels and total power of 440W (220W for the subwoofer). It supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, and DTS signals. It is also capable of playing Hi-Res audio files and features Meridian technology.
LG’s SN8YG soundbar supports 5.1.2 channel output as it is compatible with wireless rear speakers. It also features AI Room Calibration, a calibration system that uses AI to achieve the most optimal sound in any space. It also features AI Sound Pro, which analyzes the content being played to adapt the audio.
Compared to previous models, the LG SN8YG includes important new features. For example, it is equipped with HDMI 2.1 connectors, so it is compatible with HDMI eARC. This will allow users, if they have a compatible TV, to transmit 5.1 and 7.1 channel uncompressed and lossless audio via HDMI.
Another difference is that this model includes dual-band WiFi connectivity as well as Bluetooth 5.0. Thanks to the WiFi connectivity the SN8YG can include Google Assistant.

LG SN9YG
The LG SN9YG is very similar to the previous model, although more powerful and with more speakers. It is a system with 5.1.2 channels and total power of 520W (220W for the wireless subwoofer).
It is equipped with Meridian technology and supports Hi-Res audio playback. It also supports Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, DTS, and DTS:X formats.
Like the SN8YG, it has HDMI eARC connectors, is compatible with wireless rear speakers, has Bluetooth and WiFi, has AI Sound Pro and AI Room Calibration, has the integrated Google Assistant, and is compatible with ThinQ.
The LG SN9YG is now available at an official price of $997.
LG SN11RG
The LG SN11RG is the new flagship of the LG soundbar family, replacing the LG SL10YG. It is the most complete system, as it has 7.1.4 channels and 770W of power (220W corresponds to the subwoofer).
As the top-of-the-range model, it includes the best LG audio technology. It features Meridian technology, AI Room Calibration, AI Sound Pro, and support for 192 kHz/24-bit Hi-Res audio.
In terms of formats, it is the only soundbar of all those presented that is capable of playing DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution. These two formats join Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby Digital, and DTS.
In addition to this, we must add the incorporation of HDMI connectors with 4K Pass-Through and eARC, the integration of Google Assistant, Bluetooth connectivity, and a WiFi connection.
It is definitive, the LG SN11RG is the only soundbar that will provide us with real surround sound right out of the box, as it includes the rear speakers. For this very reason, it is by far the most expensive model.
