ASUS ROG Flow X13: Features, Reviews, and Price

The label ‘gaming’ does not mean that it has LED lights in every corner. A gaming device is one that has enough power to enjoy the latest games. ASUS knows this and the new ROG Flow X13 presented at CES 2021 is one of the most interesting devices at this gaming show.

This is the first 2 in 1 convertible from ASUS in the ‘Republic of Gamers’ range. A laptop that incorporates a 13-inch screen capable of rotating 360ยบ and that inside incorporates the new mobile processor AMD Ryzen 9 5980 HS, one of the flagships of the newly introduced series 5000 AMD Ryzen Mobile.

The ROG Flow X13 comes with a Gorilla Glass protected panel, touch screen, and stylus holder. ASUS offers it in two versions, one with 4K resolution and another with FullHD and 120 Hz resolution. Both models have an aspect ratio of 16:10, is compatible with Adaptive Sync, and have been validated by Pantone for color representation.

Inside we find the new AMD Ryzen 9 5980HS with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. This is a very interesting combination for a 13-inch convertible, where it is very rare to find a CPU so powerful. The performance of the GeForce 1650 can even be clouded by the AMD processor itself, made in 7 nanometers and with a frequency of 3.1 GHz or 4.5 GHz in Turbo.

For RAM, there are 16 GB LPDDR4X and 1 TB SSD storage. The battery promises up to 10 hours of continuous play and we have a 100W USB C charger to charge 60% in 39 minutes. At the sound level, ASUS includes two speakers with Dolby Atmos technology and artificial intelligence assisted noise cancellation.

But one of the most amazing additions to this ROG Flow X1 is the possibility of pairing it with an external GPU station. ASUS will sell the device together with an external NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 to achieve a performance equivalent to a desktop. ASUS offers an eGPU connector that dedicates its 63 GBps of bandwidth to graphics, achieving higher performance than Thunderbolt, according to the company.

This XG Mobile adapter includes a USB 3.2 port and a 280 W AC adapter, to charge both the Flow X13 and the graphics.

The Flow X13 comes with three heat sinks and fan outlets. Additionally, it incorporates liquid metal to assist in cooling the device.

Price and Availability of ROG Flow X13

The new ASUS ROG Flow X13 is now available for booking, although the price of the convertible is not yet known separately. The ROG XG Mobile package is available, which includes the ROG Flow X13 with the adapter and the NVIDIA RTX 3080 for $2,999.
