A design with straight edges like that of the iPhone
The iPad Mini (2021) arrives with a design with straight edges like the iPhone, with different colors available: mauve, pink, gold, and gray.
It arrives with an 8.3-inch Liquid Retina panel with 500 nits brightness, True Tone, and an anti-glare coating. It has a resolution of 2,266 x 1,488 pixels, with a density of 326 PPI. In terms of design, Touch ID will now be located on the power button at the top right.
Inside, an Apple A15 Bionic processor is used, which compared to the previous one is 40% faster at the CPU level and up to 80% faster in GPU. Accompanying it is the Neural Engine, which doubles the performance of the previous model for machine learning.
At the connectivity level, the iPad Mini arrives with a 5G model and USB Type-C with 20W charging for connection, promising a data transfer rate up to 10x faster than Lightning.
For the camera, the new iPad Mini goes for a 12-megapixel main sensor with an f/1.8 aperture lens. It also adds True Tone flash and records in 4K resolution. For the front camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor with Center Stage support is also added.
The sound section has also taken a leap in quality, with new stereo speakers. The new iPad Mini is compatible with the second-generation Apple Pencil, which can be attached magnetically to the side as with other iPad models.
Pricing and availability of the iPad Mini (2021)
The new Apple iPad Mini (2021) will be available for pre-order from today, with the launch for next week. It is officially priced at $499 for the WiFi version and $699 for the version with 5G cellular connectivity.
