They have been a long time coming, but finally, Apple presents the new AirPods (3rd generation). Its new completely wireless headphones offer this year up to 30 hours of autonomy and support for ‘Spatial Audio’, its surround sound technology.
In addition to the improved sound, the new AirPods come with design changes and are water and sweat-resistant, with IPX4 certification. These are the features of Apple’s new completely wireless headphones (TWS).

Adaptive sound and Dolby Atmos: what a sound upgrade in the new AirPods
The AirPods 3 introduce some of the new features we saw with the AirPods Pro. These new headphones have improved bass and high frequencies, Apple describes. They support the AAC-ELD codec and also promise improved voice-over video calls.
Support is offered for “spatial audio” and Adaptive EQ, to modify the sound in real-time depending on how we move our head and how the AirPods adapt to each user’s ear.
Dolby Atmos is another addition to these third-generation AirPods. For a one-touch setup, the new AirPods repeat the functionality they had previously. This year, a new skin detection sensor is added that distinguishes whether the AirPods are in the ear, in a pocket, or on the table and stops playback when we take them off.
Water resistant and with improved battery life
This new generation of the AirPods has slightly revamped the design, slightly modifying the angle of fit with the ear and shortening the stem (“stick”) that hangs down. Another addition is the incorporation of the sensor for control that we had in the Pro model.
The change in design is accompanied by IPX4 certification for water and sweat resistance, both on the earphones themselves and the charging base.
In terms of autonomy, the new AirPods promises an autonomy of up to 30 hours with the charging base or up to 6 hours on a single charge. According to Apple data, with five minutes of charging you can enjoy one hour of autonomy.
Pricing and Availability of AirPods (3rd generation)
The AirPods (3rd generation) will be available from October 25 at an official price of $179 / €199. In the case of the second-generation AirPods, their price officially is $129.
