Two of Acer’s most popular families of gaming laptops, the Predator Triton and Predator Helios ranges, have just been revamped. But it’s not just a facelift. Acer engineers have made profound changes to these computers to equip them with the latest laptop microprocessors from Intel and the new graphics processors just introduced by NVIDIA at CES.
These computers have in common, also, an advanced cooling system and careful construction, and, above all, its aim to offer users an attractive performance with video games, but there are also important differences between them. The Predator Triton 300 SE is a lightweight and stylish unit designed to take us everywhere, while the Predator Helios 300 sacrifices some of its portability in the interest of delivering the highest possible gaming performance.

Acer Predator Triton 300 SE – A full-featured device for games weighing only 1.7 kg and 17.9 mm
Before we go into the specifications of this gaming laptop it is worth putting on the table what is undoubtedly its main feature: its portability. Although its characteristics do not leave any doubt about its purpose as a gaming machine, it is relatively light (it weighs 1.7 kg) and, above all, very thin (it is 17.9 mm thick). These figures should allow users who decide to get hold of it to take it wherever they want without difficulty.
One of the most relevant improvements introduced in its configuration by Acer is the adoption of the new 11th generation Intel Core i7 processors belonging to the H35 series. We have not yet had the opportunity to test a computer with one of these CPUs, but, according to Intel, they offer a performance per watt significantly higher than its predecessors. The other great improvement of this equipment is its GPU, which in this version is a capable NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Max-Q chip.
To solve the main memory Acer proposes configurations with up to 32 GB DDR4 at 2933 MHz, and as for the secondary storage, some versions incorporate a solid-state drive with a maximum capacity of 3 TB and PCIe NVMe interface. Finally, Acer has implemented its 5th generation AeroBlade cooling technology, which promises to perform 10% better than the previous revision of this innovation.
Acer Predator Helios 300: the beating GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU makes it powerful
This gaming laptop, like the Predator Triton 300 SE, has also been thoroughly revamped. Its Full HD IPS LCD panel is available in 15.6 and 17.3 inches, but what’s interesting is that it works with a 240 Hz refresh rate and has a 3 ms response time. Acer has not changed its CPU, which is still an Intel Core i7 10th generation processor, but it is a very capable chip that continues to offer us a balanced performance.
To discover its great novelty we have to take a look at its graphics. This revision of the Predator Helios is based on a GeForce RTX 3080 Max-Q GPU, which is currently the most powerful graphics processor for notebooks from NVIDIA. Backing it up is the main memory with a maximum capacity of 32 GB DDR4 and a secondary storage subsystem that can incorporate up to two solid-state drives with PCIe NVMe interface in RAID 0. Like the Predator Triton 300 SE, this Predator Helios 300 incorporates Wi-Fi 6 connectivity.
