Chromebooks are growing in size. During its annual Next Acer event, the hardware manufacturer unveiled the new Acer Chromebook 317, the first Chromebook with a 17-inch screen. A size that to date was not available and opens the door for Google’s operating system to be offered in a larger format.
The Acer Chromebook 317 will be offered with touchscreen and without, but with 17.3-inch FullHD panels. Despite rumors that ASUS was going to introduce its Chromebook with a similar panel, Acer has been the first to announce a ChromeOS laptop of this size.

The largest Chromebook to date
The Acer Chromebook 317 arrives with a 17.3-inch FullHD IPS display. We have multi-touch and a standard version, both covered with anti-glare and reduced bezels. The webcam is optional, as is the keyboard backlight.
As Acer explains, this 17.3-inch size is ideal for teleworking or studying from home. It is expected that throughout the year we will see new Chromebooks in large format, a size where ChromeOS had not yet dared to try to conquer, but from now on there will be options.
As in other Chromebooks, the technical features are quite humble. Inside there is an Intel Celeron processor with storage of up to 128 GB.
In terms of battery life, the Chromebook promises about 10 hours of battery life, rechargeable via USB 3.2 Type-C. Two stereo speakers will be in charge of the sound and it has WiFi 6 (Gig+).
Pricing and Availability of the Acer Chromebook 317
The new 17-inch Acer Chromebook 317 will be priced from $379.99. It will be available for purchase from June. It is an economical Chromebook very focused on those looking for something simple but wants a larger screen.
For those looking for better specifications, Acer has presented the new Acer Chromebook Spin 713 with 11th generation Intel Core processors and 13.5″ screen or the Acer Chromebook 514 with similar features and 14 inches. Because in Chromebooks, more size does not mean more power.
